You may have received recently a chain letter claiming that either
the American Cancer Society or a little
girl with cancer would receive 3 cents for each piece of e-mail generated by the
chain letter.
THIS IS FALSE!
The American Cancer Society e-mail address given in the chain letter is
currently inactive, and the ACS website, linked to above, even contains a
special notice concerning this bogus chain letter!
And let's face it,
folklore lovers, it's not often you find a non-bogus chain
letter!
While the letter feeds upon your good intentions, a moment's reflection should reveal that any sort of "donations for e-mail" plan would be impossible to administrate.
